Sneak peek: Giles jewellery

On Monday I got to go to the launch party for Giles Deacon’s new jewellery line with QVC, which was fun for several reasons. Firstly, I love, love, love accessories. Secondly, I especially love jewellery which doesn’t break the bank and is on trend. Thirdly, it was at The Ivy in London which is a great venue and way too pricey for me to usually go to.

Seahorse necklace

The Libertine by Giles Deacon collection is really fun and I fully expect it to sell very well. My favourite piece was definitely the seahorse pendant, which comes in at £27.25. I was impressed with the way the pieces were displayed at the venue too. Some were being shown off on models who strutted around the loft space, but others were put in miniature bird cages. The cages were gold looking and really made the jewellery pop; give me that over the models any day.

Tetris Ring

The Tetris ring above costs £35.75, which I think is pretty good for a classic and ageless cocktail ring. The Scorpio Claw Bangle is £51.25 and the most expensive piece is the Pop Up Bangle at £70.00. The collection goes on sale on QVC on March 10.

I’m not usually a big gold fan, I prefer silver or white gold given the option. That said I would definitely give the seahorse pendant a whirl, I think it would look stunning against a simple black loose top and with some skinny jeans. On a side note, I went with a friend who loved seeing what all the fashion types there were wearing. She had an interesting observation, saying she thinks jewellery becomes more and more important as you get older. She thinks the chicest women ‘of a certain age’ manage to look so stylish because they often go for a simple black outfit topped off with acres of bangles and a fist full of rings. I have to say I totally agree, and I think it’s a look that works. What about you? Is jewellery the key to ageing chicly? I’d love to know your thoughts!
